This set comprising of two egg cups made from sandstone decorated with to iconic patterns from the Marimekko brand: the Alku designed by young Finnish illustrator Maija Louekari and the Unikko pattern created by Maija Isola. The bean-shaped forms in the Alku pattern represent seeds which blossom into magnificent and vibrant flowers. They symbolise a new beginning, such as springtime, which is what the name Alku refers to – in Finnish, it means beginning. The famous Unikko poppy pattern from Marimekko was created in 1964, at a time when the design house's collections were particularly focused on abstract prints. Designer Maija Isola wanted to turn this organic theme into something eye-catching, and created a whole series of floral prints. Today, the iconic flower represents creativity. Cheerful, chic and graphic, the tableware collection by Marimekko brings your interior to life! The simple shapes showcase the collection’s stunning designs.
