Born in the Netherlands, he has gained particular fame in Belgium since the opening of his lunch-lounge Het Gebaar in Anvers. The Désirée collection gives off a wonderful whiff of yesteryear, with its wavy edges and its sophisticated golden details referencing the richly decorated crockery of the past. It is all punctuated by mild pink touches, a fresh and gourmet hue. The design of the Désirée service relies on a dual subtle interplay between sophistication and plainness: the wavy and retro lines combine with the geometric patterns of Art Deco inspiration. Roger van Damme explains: „Although I am experienced with white crockery, for Désirée, I wanted to add this little hint of softness in the form of a warm rosy hue. The golden edging must accentuate this feeling of luxury from pastry, without necessarily entering into a kitsch look.“ Désirée is part of the Van Damme's grand project for 2020: the opening of his new eponymous establishment, wanting to breathe some fresh air into the Désirée de Lille Antwerp icon. "I did not base the idea on existing services or styles, I did my own thing. A fantastic experience! ‘’
