Ibride Tray Multicoloured Plastic material. Dimensions: L 34 x H 57 cm. This collection of trays revisits in an offbeat and humorous way the portraits of ancestors, painted in the great classical tradition of the 18th and 19th centuries. The „La Parade“ tray duo are inspired by portraits of Maerten Soolmans and Oopjen Coppit: two paintings by Dutch painter Rembrandt, painted separately in 1634, for the marriage of the couple. The La Parade paintings show the Soolmans spouses, reinterpreted to look like rare birds. The designer, Rachel Convers replays the engagement scene in a singular courtship ritual in which the lovers with immaculate plumage invent a new lovers' language. The femininity of Oopjen, a young wife with sumptuous formal clothing, is highlighted by her fan of white feathers and a rose which takes the place of her round abdomen. With his proud look and his haughty dress, Maerten lets little butterflies out of a cage with golden hues like lucky messengers. These trays can be used for service or be displayed on the wall as paintings. The designer, Rachel Convers explains: „These animals don't say "look at me“, rather „look at you“.
