Designed by Finnish artist Jenni Tuominen, the Marikylä (Village of Mari) motif is a nod to the history of the Marimekko brand, which turns 70 in 2021. Indeed, in the 60s, Armi Ratia, founder of Marimekko, built a utopia called Marikylä (the Marimekko village), where staff could live and creators could come together to invent the Marimekko way of life and the new Marimekko designs. This cheerful motif represents a village full of love, happiness and creativity. A village where even the horses are dressed in graphic prints!
