The iconic S-Table extending table was designed in 1951 by French designer Marcel Gascoin (1907–1986). A member of the Union of Modern Artists with Mallet-Stevens, Perriand and Le Corbusier, Marcel Gascoin played a major role in the emergence of post-war French design. A cabinetmaker by training, he specialised in „series furniture“ and always successfully combined modernism and democratisation. Ingenuity, elegance and flexibility define this post-war design classic. The S-Table was designed in 1951 by Gascoin for the homes of the Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Powers in Europe (SHAPE), in France. The ingenious flexibility and understated elegance that made it popular then are just as relevant today. This table is made from FSC-certified oak. The top slides to insert one or two extensions (L 220 cm / 270 cm / 320 cm). This table can therefore accommodate six, eight or ten guests. Its clean, simple lines, elegant, tapered legs, the solidity of the frame and precise craftsmanship give it a timeless quality and uncompromising functionality.
