It is solid enough when constructed. However, it would be much more accurate to say that it is compressed chipboard with a veneer finish than engineered wood. I am quite old and I did construct it alone, but it is probably best to construct with two people as the sides of this wardrobe are each in two pieces. As they are constructed first, they are not particularly steady in the early part of the construction process. Overall, I am happy with the finished product.
